Placing An Interim
Registry members under contract are
available for assignment on short notice when necessary.
When a college or university is considering using an
interim president or vice president, we typically interact
with the board chair or the president. The Registry
requests materials from the institution, and subsequently
a Registry principal arranges a campus visit to initiate
the placement process, as covered in our handbook. There
is no fee for such a visit, but the Registry is reimbursed
for travel. If the institution proceeds with the placement,
the Registry determines which members appear to be best
suited to the assignment, and several resumes are sent
to the contact person at the institution. If the proposed
candidates are deemed suitable, campus interviews are
scheduled. The Registry principal sits in on the interviews,
and confers with the selection committee. All candidates
are well qualified with extensive experience. One will
be identified as the "best fit," and the placement
is made in which the Registry contracts with the institution
for compensation as well as the anticipated duration
of interim service.
I
must say that our short but extremely productive visit
with you and the candidates was one of the most satisfying
professional exchanges of my presidency. I am truly
impressed with the depth and breadth of your services
and your methodology.
